  The following are some extracts from papers that were donated to the Collingwood Heritage Collection. They concern James Garriock who was born 12th December 1899 and joined the Royal Navy in 1917. He attended HMS Ganges and trained as a telegraphist at the WT School in Shotley (HMS Ganges). Sadly he was medically discharged in 1925.
